Google marks the start of Winter Season with its new snowy doodle celebrating Winter Solstice

21st December marked as Google Doodle Winter Solstice 2021, stating that on this particular day the sun travels the sky through the shortest path, marking the minimum daylight and the longest night of the year.

Winter Solstice is on 21st December, which marks the start of the winter season which kicks starts in the northern hemisphere up till 20th March 2022.

The world winter is derived from an old Germanic word meaning ‘time of water’ as per Britannica. The word is winter is then referred to in middle and high latitudes to the rain and snow.
